Known cheaters

Men

• Polin Belisle (BIZ) is known for finishing without running the full course. His performance was apparently accepted at the Long Beach (CA/USA) Marathon held on 05 May 1991 with a time of 2:17:39 where he was awarded $2000 in prize money. He was disqualified at the Los Angeles (CA/USA) Marathon held on 01 Mar 1992.

Women

• Kerstin Metzler-Mennenga (LIE)- gave timing chip to a male runner at the Hamburg (GER) Marathon on 29 Apr 2007 and the Berlin (GER) Marathon on 30 Sep 2007 and claimed the performances as her own. She also submitted ficticious races in support of her claim to a national 10,000m record.
