Notes: An early marathon was held on 19 Jul 1896 from the western part of Paris to the city of Conflans, via Versailles. The distance was reported to be 40km and was won by Len Hurst in 2:31:30 and had 191 starters. The 1991 race was cancelled due to a war in the Middle East.

The 1976-1978 races were held on a four lap course of 10.5K each.
The 1979 race went from the Hotel de Ville to one (of 20) city halls (<6 km distant).
The 1980 race started on the Champs Elysées.
The 1981-1985 races were along the Seine River.
The 1986-1987 races were from Place de la Concorde to Château de Vincennes (<10 km distant).
The 1988 race started at the Place de la Concorde and finished at the Vincennes race track (<10 km distant).
The 1989-1997 races were held on basically the same course as for the 1988 race with minor changes.
The 1998 race started at the Champs Elysées and ended nearby.
